This department publishes brief news articles, announcements and guest editorials on current mathematics education issues that stimulate the interest of TCM readers and cause them to think about an issue or consider a specific viewpoint about some aspect of mathematics education.
Matthew R. Larson, mrl@lps.org, is the K–grade 12 curriculum specialist for mathematics for the Lincoln Public Schools in Nebraska. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of NCTM, an author of professional books and textbooks, and has a particular interest in the application of research to problems of practice.
